The Joppatowne branch of Harford National Bank was robbed Friday evening an hour before closing.

Harford County sheriff's deputies responded to the Harford National Bank in the 500 block of Riviera Drive in Joppatowne around 5 p.m. Friday, responding to a report of a robbery.

The robber is described as a light skinned black man believed to be in his late 30s to early 40s. He is between 5 feet, 4 inches and 5 feet, 7 inches tall with freckles and was wearing black rimmed glasses, a black jacket over a gray hooded sweat shirt, jeans and a black golf style cap, Harford sheriff spokeswoman Monica Worrell said.

He entered the bank, jumped the counter and stole an undisclosed amount of cash. No weapons were displayed. Several people were in the bank during the robbery, Worrell said, but no one was injured.

The robber left the bank, scheduled to close at 6 p.m., heading on foot in the direction of Joppa Farm Road.

Deputies investigating the robbery believe the man changed clothes shortly after the robbery.
