Two men are dead after an ATV accident in White Hall in Baltimore County, not far from the Harford County line.
Around 4:35 a.m. Sunday, five people were on a 202 Polaris Ranger, an all terrain vehicle, driving west on Garrett Road near Vernon Road, according to Det. Cathy Batton with the Baltimore County Police Department.
Stephen David Tracey, 29, of the 17000 block of Gunpowder Road in Hampstead, drove the vehicle across the road to one side, continued along the road then over a steep embankment, Batton said.
The ATV plunged into a stream and both Tracey and one of his passengers, Lawrence Griffin, 29, of the 500 block of Stablers Church Road in Parkton, were pronounced dead at the scene, according to Batton.
The other three passengers, Megan Strein, of the 100 block of Stringwood Drive in Pennsylvania, Matthew Ohlson, of the 1400 block of James Way in Illinois, and Jason Burkenback, whose address and age were unavailable, were taken to York Hospital for treatment of injuries not believed to be life-threatening, Batton said.
"The crash investigation is still under way," Batton said.
It was unclear Thursday whether alcohol was involved in the crash.
"They're still waiting on the results of forensic testing to come back," Batton said.
She added there was a lot of debris in the ravine where the accident happened and investigators are trying to determine what was associated with the incident and what was already there.
