Royal Farms robbed at paper's edge

An Edgewood man who allegedly tried to rob a Royal Farms' employee ended up leaving the store with less cash than he started out with.

The man, Harold Blume III, went into the Royal Farms in the 600 block of Edgewood Road around 1:10 p.m. last Friday, according to the police report.

The employee said Blume allegedly pressed a piece of paper to her side and demanded money, according to the report. The employee told police that Blume told her, "don't look down and give me all of your 50s, 20s, 10s and 5s," according to the report.

The woman said she was scared but refused to cater to his demands, according to the report.

When the employee refused to give Blume the money, he paid for an iced tea and left, according to the report.

The employee told her colleagues what had happened and one of them followed Blume into the Edgewood library, which is across the street from the Royal Farms, then called police, according to the report.

Deputies arrived at the library and detained Blume then had the victim identify him.

Police also retrieved the paper or receipt from the trash can behind the counter at the Royal Farms, according to the release.

Blume, 37, of the 300 block of Canoe Lane, was charged last Friday with attempted robbery and second-degree assault.

He was released from the Harford County Detention Center after posting $50,000 bond.
