Ambulance involved in accident near Bel Air

Police in Harford County responded to an accident involving an ambulance and one other vehicle near Bel Air Monday afternoon.

A call came in shortly after 3:30 p.m. for the accident at Route 24 and Plumtree Road; however, a Maryland State Police duty officer at the Bel Air Barrack said he had no information, other than it was a minor accident.

The ambulance involved was from Abingdon Volunteer Fire Company, according to county emergency radio transmissions. The ambulance was headed toward Upper Chesapeake Medical Center when the accident occurred. A Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company ambulance was dispatched to provide relief, according to radio transmissions.

There were no injuries to the ambulance crew and the patient on board was taken to the hospital by the Bel Air ambulance, according to Rich Gardiner, spokesperson for the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association.
