An Aberdeen house was heavily damaged by a fire late on Thanksgiving evening that investigators say was arson.
Deputy Chief Mark Bilger of the State Fire Marshal's Office said fire was intentionally set at a one-story modular home in the first block of East Aztec Street at about 9:53 p.m. Thursday.
The home, which suffered $20,000 worth of damage, was occupied by a woman who was not injured, Bilger said Monday.
The fire was caused by an incendiary device, with two separate points of origin, according to the Fire Marshal's office notice of investigation.
Bilger, however, said he could not provide any more information about the exact cause of the fire. A criminal investigation is ongoing by the Fire Marshall's Office and the Aberdeen Police Department.
The one-alarm fire broke out in a bedroom.
Twenty firefighters from Aberdeen, Aberdeen Proving Ground and Havre de Grace were able to control the fire, which was reported by a neighbor, in about 15 minutes.
The house had smoke alarms that were not operating, according to the Fire Marshal's Office.
