A 12-year-old was arrested Tuesday night in connection with the attempted robbery and asault of another boy at a Brooklyn Park elementary school, county police said.
Officers responded at 7:22 p.m. to the 300 block of West Arden Road for a report of an assault and attempted robbery, police said.
The victim, an 11-year-old boy, told police he was playing basketball at Belle Grove Elementary School when he was approached by the 12-year-old boy, who he knew from the neighborhood, police said.
The 11-year-old boy was struck in the face multiple times and was told to empty his pockets, police said.
When the boy refused, the 12-year-old dug through his pockets, unable to find anything, police said.
The victim called police after walking home. Police later arrested the 12-year-old boy at his home on Old Riverside Road.
He was charged with a criminal citation and released to his father, police said.
Police said the victim did not sustain any serious injuries and did not require medical treatment.
Neither boy was identified by police because they are minors.
