City police said they will be checking more frequently near Spa Road after a report of an attempted child abduction Friday night.
Police said that when a girl riding her bicycle with friends near Gentry Court at about 7:30 p.m. fell behind, a white sport utility vehicle pulled up next to her and stopped.
An older white male with red hair and a beard asked her to get in his vehicle, the girl told police. She said she began to cry and ran to a neighbor's home.
Annapolis police said they could not find anyone who matched the man's description, but will check the area more frequently.
