Regarding Sunday's article "Rice: Putin Has Far Too Much Power": Surely Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice must see the irony of her remarks when she says of Russia and President Vladimir Putin:
"In any country, if you don't have countervailing institutions, the power of any one president is problematic for democratic development . . ."
Or: "Everyone has doubts about the full independence of the judiciary . . ."
And: ". . . there are, I think, questions about the strength of the Duma . . . " (read Congress).
Also: "There are clearly questions about the independence of the electronic media . . ."
Huh?
