FRESHWATER: Try fishing Lake George in Astor for plenty of panfish. Bluegills, shellcrackers and bream can be caught in good numbers near lily pads in 2-to-4 feet of water. Crickets and redworms work best, but you can catch fish on small Beetlespin lures, darts and a Hula Popper topwater lure. Fish the Wekiva River in the Lake County area for bass, bluegills and shellcrackers.
SALTWATER: When it isn't too rough, fish the surf at Playalinda Beach for pompano, whiting and black drum. Peeled shrimp, cut clams and sand fleas will all work. Sand fleas have been tough to come by in the surf as late, so buy some at the bait shop. Fish the northern Mosquito Lagoon for trout and redfish.
