Silver Springs: Whitesnake caps off concert series

Whitesnake, a rock band that was a mainstay of the 1980s, will perform at Silver Springs on Saturday. It will be the final concert of the season for the attraction near Ocala.

The group, fronted by David Coverdale, recorded hits such as "Here I Go Again" and "Is This Love."  Show time is 9 p.m. Park hours are 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday.

Operation of Silver Springs, famous for its glass-bottom boats, will be turned over to the state of Floirda at the end of September. The park is undergoing a $4 million makeover that has included the removal of its exotic animals and amusement rides. The glass-bottom boats and the concert series are set to stay, officials have said.
