Murph — rejoined the Orlando Sentinel Editorial Board in June 2016 as its "digital conversation starter." He edited the Sentinel’s oped pages as a member of the Editorial Board from April 1985 until August 2008, when he took a buyout from the newspaper. During his oped years, Murph made the “My Word” column a mainstay of the Editorial Pages. He pioneered “New Voices,” a column for writers 30 and younger, beginning in 2002. Murph joined the Orlando Sentinel’s news desk in January 1980, after he graduated from Kent State University with a degree in journalism. He has called Orlando home ever since. From 2008 to 2016, Murph volunteered with several homeless ministries, including IDignity. He worked for Strong Films, Dick Batchelor Management Group, and No Casinos. Today, Murph again edits New Voices, curates comments from the Sentinel Editorial Board’s Central Florida 100, and is the moderator of “Front Burner” issues.
