Bright ideas for Black Friday dining

One of the biggest shopping days of the year is upon us. May the odds be ever in your favor.

It's important to sustain yourself through the battle that is Black Friday. How to accomplish that is up to you — but I have a few suggestions:

If you need a bite ...

•Bombay Cafe: Some spice will put a little something in your step. If you're at or near the Florida Mall, head to this Indian restaurant. 1137 Doss Ave., Orlando; 407-240-5151.

•Rocco's Tacos & Tequila Bar: Grab some tacos, guacamole and more. Beware those huge margarita pitchers — they're dangerous. 7468 W. Sand Lake Road, Orlando; 407-226-0550.

•Wondermade: Go marshmallow crazy at this dessert shop. Stick them in ice cream, coffee, hot chocolate and other treats after visiting the Seminole Town Center. 214 E. 1st St., Sanford; 407-205-9569.

•Bubbalou's Bodacious BBQ: Comfort food in the form of barbecue will ease the pain of a poor shopping expedition — or put you to sleep if you're done for the day. Head to this barbecue joint, which has several locations, including one near the Altamonte Mall. 1049 E. Altamonte Drive, Altamonte; 407-478-1212.

If you need a drink ...

•Earls Kitchen + Bar: Enjoy the food and drink happy hour deals ALL day. You'll find this restaurant serving up globally inspired food, from ribs to bibimbap, near H&M in the Mall at Millenia, 4200 Conroy Road in Orlando; 407-345-8260.

•The Guesthouse: Once you're done at Orlando Fashion Square mall, head to this Mills 50 cocktail bar for one of the best happy hours in Orlando from 5-8 p.m. Bonus: Black Rooster Taqueria is right next door. 1321 Mills Ave. N., in Orlando; 407-630-6574.

•Seasons 52: Grab $5 cocktails, beer and more during happy hour from 4-6:30 p.m. It's near the Altamonte Mall at 463 E. Altamonte Drive in Altamonte Springs and near the Orlando International Premium Outlets at 7700 Sand Lake Road in Orlando.

•The Wine Room: Be careful not to get sucked into tasting TOO many wines, especially if you need to visit a few more stores along Park Avenue. 270 S. Park Ave.,Winter Park; 407-696-9463.

If you need a coffee ...

•Havana Bistro & Cafe: If a Cuban coffee and sandwich won't sustain you, nothing will. Get both at this cafe near The Florida Mall. 7975 S. Orange Blossom Trail, Orlando; 407-420-7278.

•La Madeleine: Snag a coffee and a croissant at this French cafe chain. It has locations at The Mall at Millenia (4175 Millenia Blvd., Orlando; 321-332-7001) as well as the Florida Mall (8001 S. Orange Blossom Trail, Suite 202, Orlando; 407-409-7784).

•Rabbitfoot Record Store Cafe: Do a little vinyl shopping while sipping on a latte at this store-cafe hybrid. 307 E. 2nd St., Sanford; 321-926-3154.

•Vespr Coffeebar: Head here if you need an extra reason to feel good about your umpteenth cup of coffee (and are near Waterford Lakes Town Center). This cafe provides locally sourced, organic and fairly traded coffees. 626 N Alafaya Trail, Suite 105, Orlando; 407-476-3093.

If you need to get away ...

•Escape to the Thornton Park District for happy hour at The Baoery, 617 E. Central Blvd.; comfort food at Dexter's of Thornton Park, 808 E. Washington St.; or sushi at Shari Sushi Lounge 621 E. Central Blvd. in Orlando.

•Or head to College Park for dinner at K Restaurant, 1710 Edgewater Drive in Orlando; The Outpost Neighborhood Kitchen, 2603 Edgewater Drive in Orlando; or RusTeak, 2625 Edgewater Drive in Orlando.
