Josh Robbins has covered the Orlando Magic for the Orlando Sentinel since 2009 and has worked as president of the Professional Basketball Writers Association since 2014. Before he started covering the Magic, he covered high-school sports, Florida State University sports, Major League Baseball and golf for the Sentinel. In 2015, he won first place for sports reporting in the Florida Society of News Editors’ annual journalism contest for his Magic coverage. He placed second in 2016 and third in 2017 in the same competition. He won the 2006 Green Eyeshade Award for sports reporting for his four-part series about people who overcame racial prejudice in Florida sports, and his work also has been honored by the Football Writers Association of America. He was born in Washington, D.C., and grew up in Maryland. A bit of trivia: He traces his love for meatloaf to his early childhood, when one of his older brothers told him (incorrectly) that meatloaf was Johan Cruyff’s favorite food.
