There's nothing sacrosanct about a strong mayor system

There are at least two notable takeaways from Baltimore City Council President Bernard C. "Jack" Young's comments regarding the strong mayor system ("Young: What has the strong mayor system achieved?" May 13).

First, shared governance is to be preferred over autocratic rule at any level. That's why we have a City Council representing the people of Baltimore.

Second, The Sun's editorial board may be a respectable purveyor of points of view, but like anybody else, its opinions are not sacrosanct.

I applaud Mr. Young's efforts to turn our city around by having Baltimore's legislative body engage in dialogue with the mayor to find the best way forward for the city as a team.
