For the life of me I fail to see the connection between requiring identification for voting and racism ("Messing with voting rights in Texas," Oct. 20).
How does requiring an ID possibly work to exclude minorities? When one registers to vote one must show ID. What, exactly, is the difference?
In addition, when one wishes to exchange a product at Walmart one must produce a photo ID. And that's not to return an item, just to exchange it. Does this mean that minorities can't shop at Walmart? I seriously doubt it.
I may be wrong here, but I truly believe that voting in honest elections is at least as important as shopping at Walmart.
