Day after day there are advertisements on TV, radio and in the mail from various organizations asking for help for disabled veterans.
I am thankful that there are so many groups willing to help disabled vets, but I am bothered that they must depend on donations. It hurts me to think this country sends these young men and women into harm's way and not make provisions for caring for them properly.
We as a nation owe disabled vets the very best care possible, and money shouldn't be a factor. What are the government and citizens doing to support disabled vets?
Think how great it would be to put the organizations that support disabled vets out of business because they and their families already had all the help they need.
But until such time as the government steps up, citizens should provide what help they can to these organizations.
