The problem with Baltimore City government for the past five decades is that Democratic one-party rule has done very little to get rid of vacant homes. So Gov. Larry Hogan rides in and makes campaign promises he can't keep ("How Hogan can best help city deal with vacants," Sept. 26).
I am a 70-year-old year man who has been voting for 50 years, and I grew up in a family that taught us that making promises you can't keep is the same as lying.
So here is my rule when voting for a politician: If he or she pledges to do something on the campaign trail and then fail to keep their word I'll know they are liars and will never vote for them again. I'm tired of their excuses for not keeping their promises.
