A life saved by the kindness of strangers

I was driving out Reisterstown Road Tuesday when a saw a turtle trying to cross the road in all that traffic. He had made it across my double lane, and a car in the other lane stopped as the turtle crept along. But a truck was approaching on his inside right.

I feared the worst, but then a man in an orange shirt, who had been walking down the sidewalk, crossed all those lanes, picked up the turtle and delivered him safely to the other side.

He makes me believe in the possibility of goodness in all of us, and I offer a prayer of gratitude for him and all the others who stopped for the sake of one turtle's epic journey through Owings Mills.
