Trump would be a disaster as president

Letter writer Mike Duvall says that he "has no idea what a Trump presidency would look like" ("We can't afford a President Clinton," Aug. 18).

Allow me to attempt to enlighten him. If anyone else were to apply for what is arguably the most important job in the world based on the credentials and experience that Donald Trump brings to the table, he would be laughed out of the building.

Over the course of his campaign Mr. Trump has displayed an alarming lack of understanding of such things as: Foreign policy, domestic policy, diplomacy, the Constitution and the law, current events and American history.

He is erratic, and manic; he responds to questions with insults or rambling diatribes. He is a master manipulator who hears only his own voice. His impulsiveness and lack of self-control are dangerous. He is completely incompetent and brings absolutely nothing to the job.

Mr. Duvall can hope and pray all he likes, but the truth is that Donald Trump inevitably would be a complete disaster as president -- and fortunately, more and more people are coming to that conclusion.

While Republicans love to accuse Hillary Clinton of being dishonest, Mr. Trump's history is replete with lies, dishonesty, fraud and self-serving manipulation.

Ms. Clinton may not be the perfect candidate but when it comes to relevant experience, pertinent knowledge and good old-fashioned qualifications she is head and shoulders above Mr. Trump.
