As a Rockefeller moderate Republican who is fiscally conservative but socially moderate, I am puzzled why Maryland Republicans (and others) look at Sen. Ted Cruz as the only viable alternative to Donald Trump ("Detouring the Trump and Clinton steamrollers," April 8).
Gov. Larry Hogan has shown that a moderate Republican can win in one of the bluest states in the country. Ohio Gov. John Kasich beats former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in most polls by a significant margin while Mr. Trump and Senator Cruz run far behind her.
Ideological purity and anger have their place, but in a gunfight or a presidential election, there is only one winner. I would like the winner to be a Republican.
