After Donald Trump said he would get a special prosecutor to look into Hillary Clinton's alleged deletion of e-mails on a private server, he added that she would 'be in jail' if he was in charge of the law. Oct. 10, 2016. (C-SPAN)

I watched the second presidential debate Sunday, and it left me frightened by a possible Trump presidency. Let me tell you why.

I grew up in Europe during the 1930s. My family and I watched and heard Adolph Hitler's speeches over the radio and in the newsreels. As a result we packed our bags and came to the U.S.

Watching Donald Trump over the weekend brought back the memories of that nightmare because Mr. Trump bears striking similarities to Hitler in many ways.

Like Hitler, Mr. Trump is a pathological liar (according to the latest report by Politifact, 70 percent of his statements are false, a world record).

He's also a bully. His demeanor is threatening and menacing, he has a vulgar, megalomaniacal personality and he threatens to send his political opponents to jail (perhaps he really meant to say concentration camps) as he incites crowds to violence. The only thing lacking is the presence of storm troopers.

This is all truly frightening. I cannot forgive the Republican Party for coming up with such a thoroughly disreputable candidate.
