I am not a cartoonist, as I have no artistic talent. However, after reading Del. Pat McDonough's proposal to build a new Super Track for horse racing in central city, I envisioned a political cartoon with a giant mouse trap with the new track sitting on the bait holder. All around the trap were junkies with their pan handling hands sticking out. They are flanked by all of the drug dealing gangs just shooting their guns at random with no regard as to whom they hit.
My immediate thought was this was another tax and spend liberal throwing more good money after bad money and missing the target. But no, Delegate McDonough is a Republican.
The problem with the Pimlico facility is similar to why Baltimore cannot be the tourist destination it so desires to be. Get rid of the easily identified drug gangs and lower your drug addiction rate to a manageable level. What the recent riots did for Baltimore was to make it known to the world what we that left the city years ago knew all along: Baltimore is not safe!
