Why is it that none of The Sun's recent op-eds have addressed the real reason people are opposing trade deals like Trans-Pacific Partnership ("Fast-track's Senate stall," May 13).
There has not been a single mention of corporate sovereignty, also known as investor-state dispute settlement, which would place corporations on the level of nations.
This would make significant reforms in many areas more difficult because companies would be able to sue for lost future profits.
The fact that deals that will affect all of us are being negotiated without any public input or oversight should worry everyone. To argue in their favor without even mentioning their flaws is highly suspect.
