Shame on Towson's president for caving to student diversity demands

A group of about two dozen black Towson University students brought a list of 13 demands to the school's interim President Timothy Chandler's office Wednesday and reviewed them with him until after midnight, when he pledged to address them.

At Towson University, we've got another spineless university president ("The lesson of #OccupyTowson," Nov. 20). He should be fired. What happened to the notion that a factual investigation should be conducted to see if the students' allegations are true? In today's environment everybody across the country is screaming fire and no one is trying verify that one exists!

Here's what he should have done.

•Find out who has been abusing minority students. If the problem is occurring in a particular dorm then it's time to drag in the RA and the offending students. If it continues, the RA is fired and students put on suspension.

•Next I would find out if all those who are offended are actually students. We know that dissidents have infiltrated college campuses.

•I would have pointed out that diversity does not mean skin color. What should be examined is the university's ability to provide a world class education.

Today's universities are infested with political correctness. If students and faculty don't like what they hear, they want to silence the opposition rather than confront with debate and facts. There are too many students who are extremely immature. The primary and secondary education system malfunctions, and then the student enters college with insufficient skills to perform and blames everyone else.
