In Baltimore, connecting and doing good

Thank you for highlighting the amazing work that is happening in Baltimore to improve the lives of our young people ("Thread, a Baltimore nonprofit, weaves students' lives together," April 19). Sarah and Ryan Hemminger are exemplary. They and their team are changing the lives and expectations of the students enrolled in Thread and leading them to become resilient, responsible and productive citizens.

In Dan Rodricks' column on the very next page, he writes about helping people who have gone astray to "get a second chance" ("Where giving second chances is a company ethic," April 19). Interestingly enough, some of the employees of Natural Concerns, led by Roland Harvey, are members of Thread. We are fortunate to have citizens like them among us!
