Let Syrians fight it out among themselves — without our help

So I'm confused — who is it we're supporting in Syria? ("The decisive moment," Sept. 9). It seems that we are against Bashar Assad, who is really a puppet for the ayatollahs in Iran. But are we for the "rebels," who are really puppets or al-Qaida?

So apparently we're now helping Osama bin Laden's people? Don't we hate him more than Ayatollah Khamenei?

I know the ayatollahs made President Reagan look bad, but bin Laden murdered thousands of Americans. It doesn't make sense. If we are going to pick sides in this one (and God knows why we would want to in the first place), it would seem we are picking the wrong one.

The best side to pick this time would be no side at all. Let them fight it out among themselves. This is one war we do not need to be a part of.

I know that would come as a surprise to the junta of generals that run this country (let's not pretend that "we the people" have any say in the matter). But some wars are not worth fighting.
