It is exactly the response from Sen. James "Ed" DeGrange Sr., a Millersville Democrat, concerning the idea of a "death with dignity" law not getting traction that appalls me (. Natural death is the way things should happen" is both glib and ignorant.
Current medical practices prevent a "natural death" in so many ways it is easy to lose count. Hospital procedures block the body's "natural progression" of shutting down and "unnaturally" prolong life, often in disregard of the dying person's wishes. We do need to talk about it, extensively, and shutting the conversation down is not going to aid anyone in having a "natural death."
