Del. Joseline Pena-Melnyk states in her recent commentary that children who drink "sugary beverages" are more prone to obesity ("Childhood obesity: an epidemic," March 31). I bet children who are drinking excessive amounts of sugary drinks are also eating candy and ice cream.
The beverage is just the tip of the iceberg of poor nutrition habits. We can't legislate this problem away. Please spend my tax dollars on nutrition education instead of mandating silly bans that only annoy my skinny kids when I take them to a restaurant.
