Franchot sticks up for fiscal prudence

Kudos to Comptroller Peter Franchot for voting against the big piano purchase by Bowie State University ("Franchot plays off-key," Nov. 18). Proof that someone that is in charge of watching how our money is spent is doing his job. Thank you.

Unfortunately, he was defeated by his fellow members of the Board of Public Works, Gov. Martin O'Malley and Treasurer Nancy Kopp, who approved the deal.
