Schaller is wrong about tea party views

I won't go so far as to say that Sun columnist Thomas F. Schaller is a liar. He may just be an ignoramus.

But his column ("Shutdown is the Republicans' fault," Oct. 2) contains so much misleading information (disinformation?) that one can only wonder if he even understands the concept of telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

For example, he wrote, "Tea partiers ... don't care about the Constitution, the law or American political tradition." Really?

Surely he knows that that isn't true. So why did he write it?

The only other reason that comes to mind as to why he wrote what he did is that he is appallingly ignorant regarding tea party members and their aspirations.

Which begs the question: Why should readers have confidence in anything he writes?
