There is no excuse for that 14-year-old boy to have carried what turned out to be a pellet gun ("Chief backs cop who shot boy, 14," April 29).
Running from the police with it in his hand was enough justification for the officer to shoot after shouting, "Stop!" And he should thank his lucky stars that he was shot in the leg and shoulder. He could be dead.
I'm sure that the family's lawyer will ask for a huge settlement from the city which they don't deserve.
