I am saddened by the public mud-slinging and inappropriate conversations that do absolutely nothing to solve Baltimore County schools' air conditioning problems ("Hogan and Franchot take an 'astonishing' step," May 12).
If our children attempted to problem-solve this way, they'd be punished and/or forced to compromise.
Over the past few years, I've had to privilege to spend time with both Comptroller Peter Franchot and County Executive Kevin Kamenetz on several occasions. Let me assure everyone: Both these gentlemen have given their time and effort to Baltimore County Schools, either touring crumbling, hot facilities or rewarding schools that have been maintained exceptionally well.
Both their staffs work tirelessly with parent advocates to find solutions that provide the best school environments possible.
I invite Gov. Larry Hogan, Mr. Franchot and Mr. Kamenetz to meet without social media, news coverage or cameras. I'll provide a private, neutral place for these brilliant men to debate and resolve this ridiculous public battle that includes our youth's well being.
Let them come armed with the facts and a willingness to listen. This is the opportunity to show our children true leadership.
