Balto. Co. needs to ensure high school students get a well-rounded education

Speaking as a retired educator with 35 years of experience, I have been keenly interested in recent articles about changes in county high school schedules ("Baltimore County to change high school schedules," Oct. 29).

Regarding the larger high schools in Baltimore County and the means by which the students are grouped into their various class sections, education officials, including guidance counselors, must remember that every individual student is different, with varying interests and abilities.

The avenue to a well-rounded education for each student must therefore include mathematics and science, speaking and writing and many other areas.
