For future generations to understand the impact that Mayor William Donald Schaefer had on our city, I believe a plaque should be placed at the foot of his statue opposite Harborplace that says, "Here stands Mayor William Donald Schaefer who with a 'do it now' attitude and an imagination that knew no bounds created the modern city of Baltimore."
