Port Covington could transform Baltimore

I'd like to add a few points to Dan Rodricks' great column about Port Covington ("Best and worst of times for Plank's plan," July 5).

Now is the time for this planned complex to set forth a major goal of bringing the "two Baltimores" together and erase the boundaries created by segregation.

Under the leadership of Kevin Plank, a connection can be made between Port Covington and East Baltimore and West Baltimore -- between neglected city neighborhoods and wealthy empowered ones.

This is the moment and all of Baltimore is looking to Port Covington as a signal that healing this city is a top priority.

Mr. Plank's immense project shouldn't let Baltimore down. Many organizations and individuals who have invested time, money, care and love in healing Baltimore have been waiting for a project on such a grand scale to vindicate their commitment to this city.

Baltimore is waiting. Here is an opportunity for Port Covington to show in very tangible ways its concern for Baltimore and its diverse population.
