UMMS CEO should be fired

UMMS Board of Directors chair Stephen A. Burch and other members of the board met with Governor Larry Hogan and Senate President Miller. (Ulysses Muñoz / Baltimore Sun video)

Robert Chrencik, CEO of the University of Maryland Medical System, must be fired for his lack of business ethics in the sweetheart deals with multiple members of his board of directors (“University of Maryland Medical System CEO placed on leave amid review of contracting practices,” March 21). He had a responsibility to run the hospital system in an aboveboard and transparent manner. For $4.2 million per year, I expect far better than the vague and evasive answers he has given to the issues in this scandal. UMMS is not some small non-profit — it's a $4.4 billion annual revenue organization. The citizens of Maryland deserve better.
