It was disheartening over the weekend to hear and read President Trump's disparaging tweets (“A ‘pathetic life’: Meghan McCain escalates her pushback against Trump,” Mar. 18) about the late Sen. John McCain, especially his reference to "last in his class’ (Annapolis) John McCain."
A Naval Academy graduate, no matter what their class rank, is forever known as a distinguished naval officer ready to serve their country with honor and bravery.
A president who used a phony medical deferment (a bone spur) to escape the draft is forever known for what he is, a cowardly draft dodger. There is no moral equivalency.
