In his recent commentary, Robert Reich spouts the hoary old meme about stock investors doing well while everyone else suffers (”Billionaires are profiting from a pandemic,” Aug. 11).

Is he unaware that most pension funds invest heavily in stocks in order to provide a decent pension for retirees? Sadly, he probably knows, but spouts his nonsense anyway.
