Don't be so quick to slam the Republican tax plan

President Donald Trump has signed into law a $1.5 trillion tax overhaul package. Trump touted the size of the tax cut, declaring to reporters in the Oval Office before he signed it Friday that "the numbers will speak."

If you change the words "GOP tax plan" to "Democrats’ health care plan," the first paragraph and last two sentences of your commentary, “GOP tax plan: worst bill ever? (Dec. 22) could have been written by a conservative in 2010.

Just as the conservatives had some things right and some wrong , so do you. I could go into more detail, but as the law is about 1,000 pages, it will take a while to figure out who the winners and losers are.

But, basically business owners will do well (and be more competitive), most of us will save a buck or two, and high-paid, salaried employees will pay much more. (The reduction of state and property tax deduction will whack them and not be offset by lower tax rate.)
