Your article quotes Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu saying "We have returned here for eternity." ("Israeli leader's settlement vow complicates Trump's task", Aug 30.). To say the least, that's a very belligerent, unyielding statement. However, maybe there's a silver lining. It is for the Palestinians to invite the settlers to become voting, taxpaying citizens of their own, independent Palestinian state. That way, the trauma of Israel's trying to evict the settlers will be avoided, and the Palestinians will gain 600,000 new, highly industrious citizens. As well, the settlers will get to remain for posterity in their beloved Judea and Samaria.
