In Baltimore, it is not the groundhog, witch hazel or swallows returning.
The harbinger of spring in Baltimore and surrounding communities is a young kid with a lacrosse stick in hand. This event was recently witnessed on a snowy day with a young girl dressed in winter clothes, tossing a lacrosse ball against a bounce back in Springlake.
Soon, parents will be huddled on sidelines for practices and games bemoaning the temperature, all the while as spring is unfolding in front of them.
No groundhog, no swallows, no witch hazel, just lacrosse tells us that spring has arrived in Baltimore.
