I think Gail Householder needs to take a refresher course in basic biology since she seems unable to distinguish between a consensual sexual relationship and alleged attempted rape (“The party of Clinton is troubled by the behavior of a teenage Brett Kavanaugh?” Sept. 17). President Bill Clinton's "shenanigans" were indeed unsavory, but they were both consensual and non-criminal. Attempted rape, Ms. Householder, is a crime whether you are 17 or 70, drunk or sober. It’s a violent crime which can permanently affect a woman's life.

Christine Blasey Ford (yes, she has a name) is very credible. She previously related this incident to both her husband and her therapist and mentioned Judge Brett Kavanaugh by name. She has her therapist's notes from years ago. She volunteered to take, and did take, a lie detector test, which she passed. Has Judge Kavanaugh made such an offer? The letter writer’s attempts to demean Ms. Ford say much more about her than about Ms. Ford.

There is a witness, Ms. Householder, the third party who was allegedly in the room. He initially said he did not remember the incident and then later changed his story and said it didn't happen. Another candidate for a lie detector test? All these parties should be thoroughly questioned under oath.

A Supreme Court Justice serves for life. The job should not be given easily or hastily. There are serious questions about Judge Kavanaugh's behavior which should be resolved before he is confirmed.
