For pity's sake, don't sign Colin Kaepernick

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh talks about the team's passionate fans expressing their opinion respectfully and getting some consensus . (Kevin Richardson / Baltimore Sun video)

Too many have sacrificed too much to make the American flag an icon of our nation with the liberties, patriotism and the freedoms our society enjoys for us to make an individual who demeans it an object of our loyalty and praise ("Baltimore: Let's stand up for Colin Kaepernick," Aug. 2). There are enough methods of protest available that we should object to the denigration of our flag for such a purpose. I, for one, would certainly regret seeing Colin Kaepernick in a Ravens' uniform.
