Protecting the people more important than reforming juvenile delinquents

Silver Oak Academy near Taneytown is a privately-contracted residential facility for juvenile offenders. It has been hailed as a model for educating and rehabilitating juvenile delinquents, providing young men a rigorous education and vocational training for the future. (Baltimore Sun video)

It seems like the Maryland Legislature has lost its way yet again.

In the past couple of years they seem to have taken up the cause of the criminals, from giving the right to vote again back to felons to making it almost impossible for employers to know the people they are hiring are felons.

Now Del. Charles Sydnor, in his desire to protect juvenile delinquents from their capture and punishment, has sponsored a bill ( approved by the House of Delegates ) to stop law enforcement from posting pictures of these underage suspects charged as adults.

Mr. Sydnor uses about four juveniles as examples of those whose pictures were published (leading to the capture and charging of three) in connection with the sexual assault of a 19-year-old woman.

What about protecting the public from these people ? I'm not worrying about the redemption of these young men at this point. I'm worried about protecting society from them.
