Hold U.S. intelligence accountable, too

Snowden spoke about press freedom, the nuances of surveillance, and more.

Most Americans know that the U.S. intelligence agencies are just more government employees who are never held accountable for the work they do (“Taking Putin’s word,” Nov. 13). Maybe the news media should find out how many of these employees lost their jobs over weapons of mass destruction, the unanticipated terrorist attacks in Boston, New York, Florida or California or who lost their job when an NSA contract employee removed thousands of documents over a 20-year period. Or how about the tens of thousands of intel employees who could not unlock an iPhone?

Most Americans have learned that you can only believe about 20 percent of what comes out of any government agency.
