Johns Hopkins University students and faculty walk out of class Wednesday morning demanding that the administration immediately end its contracts with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency.

Johns Hopkins’ first responsibility is protecting the safety of its students and staff (“Say ‘no’ to Hopkins’ private police,” Feb. 11). Since the city has abdicated its responsibility to protect its citizens, Hopkins needs to go ahead and set the police force up and then fight it out in courts.

As the city police force is understaffed, the city should appreciate any help it can get. I don't know why Hopkins won't use its political clout to advance this issue.
