I like Hogan — but not dictating school start

Gov. Larry Hogan defends his executive order to start the school year after Labor Day during a press conference. (Kim Hairston, Baltimore Sun video)

As a political independent, I approve of almost everything Gov. Larry Hogan does. However, I find it ironic that a Republican politician who espouses all decisions be made at a local level is opposed to school districts deciding when to begin the school year (“Some Maryland students could return to school in August as legislature moves against Hogan’s order,” March 14). Maybe a little soul searching is in order.
