Can we ever forgive Heather Cook?

Heather Cook a former Episcopal bishop serving a prison sentence for fatally striking a bicyclist with her car while drunk could be released as early as next month if a Baltimore judge approves her request to modify how she is serving her sentence.

A difficult requirement to be a Christian is the act of Forgiveness. We ask for forgiveness when we say the Lord’s Prayer and we say we will also forgive, but do we(“Prosecutor opposes early release for ex-bishop Heather Cook who fatally struck Baltimore bicyclist,” Oct. 9)? A few years ago a group of Amish students in Lancaster, Pa., were shot and killed while attending school. At the funeral the parents of the students said they had forgiven the shooter as that is what God commanded us to do. While on the Cross Jesus said, “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.” Forgiving is tough.
