Stop messing with Maryland's comptroller

Apparently, the people of Maryland are quite pleased with the job Comptroller Peter Franchot is doing. This is evident by his record-setting vote count. This would include the work he has done regulating the sale of alcohol and tobacco.

Despite the overwhelming support by the citizens of Maryland, the Democrats in Annapolis are trying to remove his authority over this function (“After years of feuding with fellow Democrats, Maryland Comptroller Franchot at risk of losing regulatory roles,” March 6). Not because of poor performance in his duties but as a punishment. He is being sent to his room without dinner for speaking his mind and not marching in lockstep with the Democratic agenda.

We, the people of Maryland, voted Mr. Franchot into office to do a job. Stop playing politics and allow him to do what we elected him for.
