General Assembly Democrats raise taxes

Governor of Maryland Larry Hogan talks about a bill that he is introducing for Maryland tax payers in response to the new federal tax plan. (Kim Hairston, Baltimore Sun video)

The Annapolis Democrats must have thought they woke up in heaven. They get a $200 million tax windfall from President Donald J. Trump’s tax plan, will not consider Gov. Larry Hogan’s plan to make Maryland taxpayers whole and achieve one of their party’s top priorities by increasing taxes (“Maryland Senate panel scraps Hogan tax relief bill, OKs alternative,” March 6). Maybe they can send some of the windfall to Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh so she can continue to make government bigger — such as hiring 20 new staff at a cost of $1.6 million taxpayer dollars — the Democrats’ second highest priority.

To the Marylanders who work for a living and pay taxes, keep voting for the Democrats in the General Assembly and you will get what you deserve.
